“He came home late and he left early. Every day.” These sentences, describing a hard-working habit of Mamacita’s diligent husband from the ‘No Speak English’ story, would be easily found as containing an error of grammar as the last two words make up only a fragment. Every short story, as well as the ‘No Speak English’ story, doesn’t really concern much about grammar. We, as the writers, don’t have to follow any grammar rules in creative writing. The breaking of grammar rules in creative writing is done on purposes. Applying no grammar rule in the story can, somehow, greatly urges the reader’s emotion to get along with the story easier. It helps in expressing the writer’s feeling and thought better than using the exactly correct grammar. Also, the dismissal of grammar rule could give the story a fine, fascinating, and perfectly fit piece. Accordingly, grammar rules can be ignored in creative writing.
Refusal to follow the grammar rules in creative writing can greatly affects the reader’s feeling as they read the story. It, somewhat, effectively influences the reader’s mind to be as same as the characters or the author in the story. It persuades the reader to agree to the ideas that given in the story. “Home. Home. Home is a house in a photograph, a pink house, pink as hollyhocks with lots of startled light.” another sentence from the ‘No Speak English’ story is used for an instance. The author has repeated the sentence with the only one word, home, twice. This is grammatically wrong. However, it makes the readers realized that there is a homesick issue here in the story. The readers can sense the yearning for home from either the character in the story or the writer in these sentences, and likely to feel the same way, too. Therefore, creative writing is allowed to have wrong grammars in order to synchronize the reader’s emotion with the story's atmosphere.
Writing with no grammar rule can help the writers to reveal their ideas with ease. The writers usually ignore writing in the correct grammar so that they could express their thoughts right away without worrying about their grammars. Disregarding the correctness of grammar, we can easily divulge our abstract feelings in words, and make it supposable. The writers can simply convey what they’re trying to tell in the story and make the story more understandable by just let loose with the grammar rules. In this way, the story wouldn’t be too complicated to understand. For example, “Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hamandeggs.” In this example, getting from the story ‘No Speak English’, the grammar is totally wrong as the sentences contain only nouns. Yet, we all know what the writer is trying to tell although it doesn’t come in the absolute correct grammar sentence. Consequently, the writers don’t have to follow grammar rules in creative writing because it helps them better in order to channel their thoughts to the readers.
Creative writing requires no grammar rule to make the pieces more pleasant, as well as to add the aesthetic elements to the pieces. The writers tend to add the beauty to their stories by neglecting grammar rules. Sometimes, considering about the correct use of grammar can make it difficult to make the story becomes fascinating. For instance, “Push, pull. Push, pull. Puff!” These fragments, again, from the story ‘No Speak English’ don’t have any noun. It is, therefore, considered as wrong grammar. Still, it makes the story charming and fascinating by giving the actions and sound. Because of this, grammar rules don’t have to be followed in creative writing in order to give the story more fun and glamour. Also, it could make the story ideally fit.
In conclusion, writers can disregard grammar rules while writing creative writing. Not following grammar rules allows the readers to be smoothly affected by the story. They will agree with what is told in the story easily. It also helps the authors to readily express their thoughts and emotions into the pieces. The authors can write whatever they want to indicate without getting annoyed by the grammar rules. Last but not least, it makes the story enchanting. We can mess up with the grammar as much as possible when we want to give the story some appealing poetic senses. For these reasons, we can break grammar rules as we write a creative writing. We don’t have to follow the rules of grammar in such writing style.
